33rd Forum Financial Market Regulation
In recent years, European companies have figured prominently in many significant U.S. regulatory outcomes on a wide range of substantive legal topics. In general, what factors have caused United States government agencies to develop their strong regulatory enforcement approach over the years? And specifically for European companies, is the recent U.S. election likely to impact the historic American approach to regulatory investigations? The presenter draws on twenty-five years of experience including nearly two decades as a senior in-house lawyer for a Swiss-based financial services company and as a lawyer at the U.S. Department of Justice, to describe how American regulatory investigations have evolved over the years, and to consider what effect the recent American election may have on U.S. investigations of European companies in the future.
